I've seen some that do not have a serial number on the front right of slide. My Whittington Vol. 1 book on German pistols says that serial numbers "may or may not be on the right side of the slide."The one I can get has matching numbers (unlike in the U.S. where the only part with a serial # is the reciever/frame, the European weapons have matching numbers on frame, barrel and slide). This one is allegedly a police trade-in and it has a nice, crisp trigger and the bore looks really good. The P1 even has a decocking function.Martin. Acc. to member Pilotsteve's chart are just a few blued PPK/S chambered in .380 known. The first few numbers he mentioned are 40581 (03/1983), 44480 (10/1984), 58122 (08/1993). The serial numbers are in the 389,000 range I forget the last three but I know they are 389,xxx or 398,xxx with my dyslexic skills I can't remember now! I was originally under the impression that this was a manufacture date, the more I read it looks like a rebuild date. The last three digits of the serial number are stamped on the barrel, slide, and locking block and they all match.
