Due to the SUV shortage, I literally haven’t test drove any RAV4. The new ravs drive pretty close to the Camry, you just sit up a little higher. Otherwise same drivetrain and similar handling. But I agree with you on the highlander! I had a rental and man was it quiet.

These cars seem to be just plain reliable with good maintenance requirements, and no obvious reason they're not a good decision.

Dimensionally it surprises me that the RAV4 is only four inches longer and four inches wider than my Corolla; it seems like it should be a foot in each direction! The way I see it, after reading the subreddits, both the Corolla Cross and RAV4 have a couple flaws. The Cross has that intermittent wiper & auto start/stop crap going on - the ...

I don't regret the Rav4, its a great car despite my first year model having some issues, but I've been enjoying the 4Runner more. If that's the most important thing to you, buy the Rav4. But other than that, it's a worse value than almost every one of its competitors (particularly the CX-5, CR-V, Tucson, and Rogue). There were a bunch of lunar rock exterior w/ nutmeg interiors for sale in GA back in July. You have to call small town dealerships, they’re more likely to have them. But your hybrid sheet for the RAV4 limited hybrid is full of vehicles that are FWD. I did not find any AWD in the RAV4 Limited hybrid list ( thats all i looked at). I then called the dealership for 1 of the fwd vehicles in the RAV4 limited hybrids in the list and they confirmed it was not a hybrid. So i suspect they are not hybrids as denoted

2019 should be reliable. Apart from noise/perhaps a jerky transmission, the LE AWD doesn’t have the transfer case issues. Shouldn’t have anything that affects reliability. Resale will be better with the new style, as well as power and fuel economy. Up to you if you decide a deal on the 2018 is worth forgoing all of that.

In addition, until the self parking/driving is better I think it is mostly a gimmick. I was curious to see what the Tucson will have. It should be at least $5000 cheaper than the Prime (and likely more considering the markups for the Prime), but that cost savings will mean less power and range. The engine oil for a 2011 Toyota RAV4 with a V6 engine is 5W- 30, while the 4- cylinder model needs either 5W- 20 or 10W- 20 engine oil, as recommended by Toyota. If you’re doing constant long range driving like this person, the advantages of a hybrid are less. Curious how an HRV even remotely fit into your search. It’s a much smaller and cheaper car than the 50 and RAV4. CRV would be the best comparison to the group (we traded a 2017 EX-L to get our 2023 CX-50 Turbo P). CR rates the CR-V as 81 Overall Score vs 72 for RAV4 (Toyota fan boys are now reaching for their mice) and rates CR-V 4/5 for reliability vs 3/5 for RAV4.
