I invisibled, snuck in and fought them once - the things we do for smokepowder barrels. Insect plague does seem easier. I do the same thing. Just fly up to the roof and use a smoke powder arrow in that little opening. Misty step in and let the remaining NPCs run up to the top floor to finish them off.

That just appears to be a stylized wall to match the rest of the room. There is nothing there. No secret door, if you pull the camera out you can see outlines of secret spaces, but here there is nothing. Use a smokepowder bomb on the wall. Go BOOM!!
