thanks for the reply - I was away and not able to reply earlier. Yes, the problem is with the 2018. I had unlocked the card and opened the trunk, put items in the trunk and shut the trunk with my keyfob inside. the Trunk would not open using the pad outside. I used the driver unlock button to unlcok all doors but the trunk still would not open.
At a near by hotel (from where we have a townhouse) a family loaded their luggage in the trunk of their car in the inside parking garage and locked the car (trunk, doors all). The next morning after they checked out, the trunk was empty. There were no signs of locks being forced.
