I'm soon to take delivery on a new Jetta TDI, and have read many things about the EGR mod. I live in a county where all unleaded vehicles have to pass emissions testing. I'm not sure if the TDI has to be emissions tested or not in this state. I don't want to screw with or worry about the intake clogging, so I would like to have the EGR mod done.

the biggest hindrance to decent fuel economy is a short-trip commute and excessive use of your right foot on both pedals. Pre-fix, my 2014 Jetta w/DSG averaged 49 MPG over a 5 month period on a 350 mile round-trip "commute" (once-a-week). Just now getting ready to put on post-fix hwy miles for comparison. W.
