The trap in the pictures is the trap you will receive. (Storage Code: P4). Trap has strong springs. Trap is entirely usable, and would make an outstanding collector item.
The #114 has higher gripping jaws, a wider higher jaw than the #4 or #14. They are also a bigger trap with wolf trap springs not #4 size springs. Although there is one variant of the #114 that has #4 springs. The chains on a #114 are almost always a twist link welded chain with swivel in the middle. California. Greetings from a new member. I have a Newhouse #5 Bear Trap. From my limited research I believe it is referred to as the "Patent Date Model". I know zero about its history. I picked it up a Community Wide Garage Sale and the seller had no information about it. The Trap shows considerable signs of exposure and pitting.
