I am looking at used 16 ga LeFever Nitro Special (serial #179xxx) and it looks pretty good for an early 1920s gun. Barrels ring, action tight, minor pitting, 1 little barrel ding, stock refinished, splinter forearm showing wear. Only thing I was unable to determine is the chambers.I happen to have a Nitro Special butt stock off the gun . I just weighed it .11.80 oz. That's just the wood . I don't think you will get rid of more than an oz. and you will weaken the wrist .
