As noted above by some people the 1301 has a major failure point. The lever the drops the carrier if pushed on the back can basically make the gun a single shot gun by stopping the ammo from feeding. Mechanically inclined people, and the lucky gunner video explain this better than me, but it's a Major design flaw.

The biggest differences are that the Beretta 1301 is lighter, Benelli M4 has a pistol grip option, and the systems used to cycle the action. As far as the Benelli being a faster action it's a falsity or marketing hype from Benelli. Besides the cycle time between auto loaders is so short. You'll never notice it in the real world. The Benelli will be much easier to maintain than the Beretta with out doubt. As far as reliabillity both should be close.
