The 383 does have a ton of tq, and doesn't need to rev to hit good HP numbers. I believe that since you don't plan on driving this a lot, that you should consider the 454. More money without question, but you get what you pay for. The difference between the two is very noticable, the 454 will always have more low end.Im looking for a cam with a choppy/ mild rough idle. The XR276HR has the following specs. 276/282 duration @0.006. 224/230 duration @0.050 W/ 502 &510 lift and 59 degress overlap. You can check this with a feeler gauge or welding rod of the appropriate thickness. My last 406 had the Victor Jr., 950 carb, and a 3500 stall. It was super responsive and drove everywhere on the street. The new 383 has the Performer RPM, 850 Quickfuel carb, and a 4100 converter. It is very responsive as well and running AFR 195's on this one, last one had the AFR 210's. 72 Nova 383.
